INDI alliance's boycott list threatens press freedom

The recent actions of the INDI alliance against the media pose a threat to democracy and are counterproductive. Journalists in Bengal, Punjab, and Tamil Nadu are facing legal action, and opposition parties are urging their boycott. During the pandemic, a Trinamool leader expressed displeasure to the editor of a reputed Bengali newspaper about their coverage of the state's handling of the situation, stating that it angered their party leader. In January of this year, Kolkata Police filed an FIR against ten journalists and the BJP Bengal chief over Vande Bharat attack incidents that were widely reported in the media. The opposition's creation of a boycott list only serves to undermine press freedom and limit opportunities for truthful journalism and journalists. This is a dangerous move that goes against the principles of democracy. Silencing the media is a direct attack on the fourth pillar of democracy and a violation of the Indian Constitution. The boycott sets a dangerous precedent and is a dark chapter in India's democratic history. It is a shameful attempt to weaken the foundations of a progressive Bharat.
