The hijab, the niqab, and the burka are instruments of oppression for millions of girls and women worldwide who are not allowed to make a choice. Brave women and even schoolgirls are openly opposing the hijab practice in totality and are ready to give any sacrifice for this. Though in India the issue is not the practice of wearing a hijab but is only limited to following the discipline of an educational institute and respecting the uniform while on campus in the interest of proper education of a girl child!The fact that men and women are protesting together irrespective of gender shows that the protests are not just about the hijab as a symbol of oppression or Amini’s death but more about the use of force on ordinary people by ruthless rulers. Hijab is not a choice for women. Hijab being one of the most visible symbols of oppression is the understanding that's moving the agitated masses.
